[ yup... they've all heard the noise (either Maya's honking or their idle chatter - maybe both) and have decided to depart for the pond itself, floating in a cute little green flock. Lupin sighs. ]
... Well, I can't exactly go for a swim with you around. Let's see... [ he rubs his chin. ] Got any spells that could help?
[ she's not wrong... he does not have swim trunks... this is part of the issue. ]
Maybe not, but they'd still be stuck out in the water. Freezing the water might not be such a bad idea. That would leave them stuck, and we could just walk out and grab them. Theoretically.
[ if something doesn't go tragically and hilariously wrong, which it will, absolutely. ]
[ the Persona gracefully extends an arm and the temperature drops even more dramatically. Ice races across the water, and while it does indeed freeze the pond, it's a little too strong.
[ You know, he was going to ask her if she was sure she could freeze just the water, but he had faith that she wouldn't accidentally kill them with her magic. His faith was poorly placed. (Also, he definitely gives her a stare for that language. Maya!!) ]
-- Can't you control that thing?! [ he cries out, before immediately racing out across the ice to try and free a goose or two before it's too late. It is not the most graceful thing he's ever done. ]
I was using her for a life or death fight before this, she was aiming for strong!
[ god, why had she not kept Bufu instead of Bufudyne--
But Maya gestures and the Persona vanishes, leaving the pond in its current state-- because the last thing she wants to do is drop Lupin in the water now. ]
thanks for not dunking him in the lake, Maya, he appreciates it. He almost falls on his face at least five times while doing this, but he manages not to through sheer agility (thanks, thief training), finally reaching the goose closest to the edge after nearly slipping past it. Crouching down, he wraps his hands around the body of the frozen fowl as best he can, then gives a mighty tug, and...
Although, once he says that, the goose finally comes loose (heh) with a pop, leaving a small, goose-shaped spot of open water in the ice. Once again, Lupin displays some marvelous control over his body by not completely falling on his ass when the bird comes out unexpectedly.
Fortunately, due to being frozen, it's not wiggling around that much. However, he's also not entirely sure it's still alive... ]
Did you kill them...? I don't think this counts as a capture.
[ eventually, he does skid back to land, holding a singular goosicle in his arms. Lupin has a lot of stamina, but he already looks tired from all of this. ]
... I hope you're right. I honestly have no idea how we should check. Uh...
[ as he holds it out towards Maya, one of its legs twitches. ]
[ it sure does... in fact, once its head is melted enough for it to move, it gives its neck a shake, and then opens its beak wide to snap at Maya. Really wide. ]
Geh!! Hey! Behave, you little--!! Freeze it again!
[ okay, good point, don't freeze it. think fast, Lupin!! He drops the goose - which, in its half-frozen state, can't exactly move that much - and then quickly shoves his cane into its enormous mouth horizontally, keeping it from shutting again. For the time being.
Gross, he has mutant goose spit on his cane. He sighs heavily while the goose thrashes half-frozenly. ]
... Wow. I should have known that the geese were going to be this monstrous, but it's one thing to hear about it and another to actually witness it. Are you okay?

[ he said there were others like him back home, but as far as Lupin knows, they're not here. Sorry, Ryoji... ]
I'm glad it's different for you.

... Oh.
[ wow, those geese sure did olly out while they were talking?? ]

Strange! ]
Mm... I could freeze the pond, or I could try to put them to sleep. They shouldn't sink if that happens, right?

[ she feels so bad, these poor geese probably didn't deserve to be iced today. But also Lupin's going to fall if he keeps this up. ]
